Roseland Sweet Hotel
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Roseland Sweet Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But you know what? Sometimes the places with slightly quirky names end up surprising you the most. This four-star spot sits right on Cao Ba Quat street in District 1, and I mean, you really can’t get more central than this without paying those sky-high prices at the big international chains.
The thing about staying in District 1 is that you’re literally in the heartbeat of Ho Chi Minh City – and this hotel gets that balance right between being accessible to everything while not feeling like you’re sleeping on top of a motorbike garage. I actually slept pretty well here, which honestly surprised me given how close we are to all the action. The street itself is one of those smaller ones that connects to the bigger thoroughfares, so you get the convenience without the constant honking at 2 AM. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed – not trying too hard to be trendy, but they’ve clearly put some effort into making the space feel larger than it probably is. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the air conditioning works properly, which… well, if you’ve been to Vietnam in summer, you know that’s not negotiable.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their neighborhood. I asked about getting to the War Remnants Museum without dealing with tourist taxi prices, and the guy at the front desk sketched out this little walking route that took me through some side streets I never would’ve found otherwise. It’s those kinds of details that make a difference when you’re trying to experience a city rather than just check boxes on a sightseeing list. The breakfast situation is solid too – not a massive spread, but they do a good Vietnamese coffee and have enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying a few days. I noticed they get busy around 8 AM with what seemed like a mix of business travelers and tourists, so if you’re not a morning person, maybe aim for 9:30 or later. The 8.7 rating this place has makes complete sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it delivers on what matters: clean, comfortable, well-located, and run by people who actually care about their guests’ experience.
