You know what really surprised me about Igo Apart Hotel 3? It’s tucked away on Calmette Street in a way that feels almost secretive – I mean, you’re literally in the heart of District 1, but somehow it doesn’t have that overwhelming chaos that hits you the moment you step outside most hotels in central Ho Chi Minh City. The street itself has this interesting mix of local coffee shops and tailoring businesses, so you get genuine neighborhood vibes while still being a quick walk from all the tourist stuff.
The four-star rating actually feels earned here, which honestly isn’t always the case in HCMC. The apartment-style setup works really well – I had this decent-sized room with a little kitchenette that came in handy for storing fruit from Ben Thanh Market and keeping water bottles cold (trust me, you’ll need them). The air conditioning is solid, which matters more than you might think when you’re dealing with that sticky Vietnamese heat. What I appreciated most was how quiet it stays at night, despite being so central. Maybe it’s the way the building sits back from the street, or just good soundproofing, but I actually got decent sleep without earplugs.
Staff-wise, they’re genuinely helpful without being pushy – the front desk guy gave me these detailed walking directions to places that actually made sense, not just “turn left and walk.” The 8.3 rating seems about right; it’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities, but everything works properly and feels clean. The lobby has this relaxed, almost residential feel that I liked. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re renting a motorbike, but there are spots nearby, and honestly, you’ll probably end up walking or grabbing Grab rides most of the time anyway. The location puts you close enough to the Saigon River that you can wander down there in the evenings when the heat dies down, and you’re within reasonable walking distance of the main backpacker area without being right in the middle of all that noise. I’d actually stay here again – it hits that sweet spot of being comfortable and well-located without feeling like you’re paying extra just for a fancy name.

"Simple and basic no frills accommodation but does the job- location is easy and in District 1"
Stayed here for a short period as it was central location. The hotel is comfortable and basic ( you get what you paid for ) i.e it is like a 3 star hotel ( an old building) but you have what you need. Washing machine on the 5th floor, in the room it has basic sink and kettle to have a cup of tea. I had the room with city view ( bit of street noise as I was on the 1st floor, but to be fair that is all across District 1 central location). Bed was very comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space. The manager / owner is very helpful and pleasant.
What could be improved: Wi-Fi outage for 1 day, but the manager lady was very quick and helpful to action and resolved problem.
Room key turns off all electric in the room.

Ready access to the city.
I arrived at 4am and was not assigned the room I chose and paid for.
The day after they changed my room and deducted the night from the bill.

"Good location"
The location is great! Restaurants and cafes are nearby; I can walk to the metro. There is a lot of privacy. The host is very friendly and helpful. My room is really comfortable, I have everything I need. It is free to use the washer and, thanks to the sunny weather in Saigon, I do not need a dryer to dry my clothes.
What could be improved: The only problem is that the water flow of the shower in my bathroom is quite weak. There is not much warm water. I wonder whether it was because I showered late, thus, there was no warm water left for me.

"Not many positives about this property"
Location was relatively good in district one. Gave us one room early to store luggage.
What could be improved: Reception not manned most of the time so took a while until some arrived to check us in. Then dhey ddn't give us the door code so we couldn't get back in. Not around when we wanted to pay. One bedroom door didn't lock from the inside or outside. We reported in via WhatsApp in the morning (as no one was around) but no reply and not repaired during our 3 day stay. Luckily, we had several rooms booked so could store valuables in another room. Kitchenette tap didn't work in our room, shower hanging off a nail in another room. Rooms cleaned at 4 pm on our last day (booked 3 nights) before checking out early the next day - but late in the day!
