CityHouse- El Pino Realm at Metro Ben Thanh Market
I’ll be honest, when I first heard the name CityHouse- El Pino Realm at Metro Ben Thanh Market, I thought it sounded a bit over the top – but you know what, this four-star place actually lives up to its fancy title. The location on Phó Đức Chính street is genuinely brilliant if you want to be in the thick of things in Ho Chi Minh City. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market (which gets crazy busy during the day but has this amazing energy), and the whole District 1 scene is right at your doorstep.
What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to create this sort of calm oasis while being so central. The lobby has this modern Vietnamese aesthetic that doesn’t feel forced – dark wood, clean lines, but with these subtle traditional touches that actually work. The staff here are genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. When I was trying to figure out the best route to the Cu Chi Tunnels, the front desk guy drew me an actual map and told me which bus stops to avoid during rush hour. That 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience little things like that.
The rooms themselves are well thought out – I stayed on the seventh floor and the soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re in one of the busiest parts of the city. You’ll still hear some street noise (it’s Saigon, after all), but it’s not the kind that keeps you up at night. The air conditioning works properly, which honestly isn’t always a given, and the shower pressure is strong enough to actually wake you up in the morning. I loved that they have these floor-to-ceiling windows that let in tons of natural light, and if you get a room facing the right direction, you can catch glimpses of the Saigon River in the distance. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building – I was able to video call home from the lobby without any issues. One small thing that impressed me was how they handle the breakfast setup; instead of the usual chaotic buffet scene, they have this more organized system that keeps things fresh and doesn’t feel like a feeding frenzy. The pho they serve in the morning is actually decent too, though obviously you’ll want to venture out for the real street food experience. If you’re planning to stay here, book directly with them if possible – I noticed they sometimes have better rates than the big booking sites, plus you get little perks like late checkout without having to ask twice.
