Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Nexus House Cay Diep – Near Independence Palace? It’s tucked away on this tree-lined street that feels almost residential, but you’re literally walking distance from some of Ho Chi Minh City’s biggest attractions. I mean, the Independence Palace is right there – maybe a 7-minute walk – but you’d never know you’re in the heart of District 1 from how quiet Đường Cây Điệp gets at night.

The hotel itself has this boutique feel that’s honestly refreshing after seeing so many cookie-cutter places in the city. It’s a solid four-star property, and you can tell they’ve put thought into the details. The lobby’s compact but stylish, with these interesting local art pieces that actually look like someone curated them rather than just filling wall space. My room was surprisingly spacious for the area – I had enough room to properly unpack, which is saying something. The bathroom was modern and well-lit, though I’ll be honest, the shower pressure could’ve been stronger. The AC worked perfectly though, which is crucial when you’re dealing with Saigon’s humidity.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about getting to Ben Thanh Market, they didn’t just point me toward a taxi – they explained the best walking route and mentioned which streets get crazy busy around lunch time. Speaking of location, you’re about a 10-minute walk to Nguyen Hue Walking Street, but the hotel sits on one of those side streets that locals actually use, so you get a feel for real daily life in the city. There’s a great little coffee shop two blocks down that serves proper Vietnamese coffee (the hotel coffee’s decent but nothing special), and honestly, just wandering around that area in the early morning was one of my favorite parts of the stay. The breakfast spread was solid – mix of Western and Vietnamese options, fresh fruit, and the pho was actually pretty good. I’ve had hotel pho that tasted like sad soup, but this was legit. Check-in was smooth, and they held my bags after checkout so I could explore for a few more hours before heading to the airport. With an 8.4 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I get it – it’s one of those places that just works without trying too hard to impress you.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Ho Chi Minh City through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for experiencing the city’s vibrant street culture and rich historical heritage.

"Comfortable one-month stay, helpful staff, good location!"
Room: We got the room with a garden view located two floors above ground. - Lots of light, has basic amenities, has a kitchenette (although we never used it), a medium-sized fridge, a kettle, etc. - Cute room with a working desk. I spent a lot of time remote working here (including many video calls). The internet connection was stable. I would definitely recommend a good microphone/noise-canceling application. There's a school nearby, and the noise can get a little loud for your caller to hear you comfortably (remember, we are in Ho Chi Minh City after all!). - We also used the laundry machine with no issues. We asked for a drying rack, which the staff kindly provided to us. Location: Good! Mostly locals in the area, but you have quick, easy access to facilities and things you might need as a tourist/non-local. Bars, restaurants, cafés, salons which are accessible on foot, etc. Staff: Super helpful, friendly, honest, and accommodating! :) They don't speak English to well (chances are you don't speak Vietnamese either), so make the translator app your best friend. We stayed there for a whole month and this was how we got by! Extra: They have a café downstairs ;) If you don't have a sweet tooth, remember to ask for no sugar! Or avoid anything that's made with syrup. The drinks can get very sweet.
What could be improved: It's Ho Chi Minh City, so you expect it to be noisy. At night, around 10pm/11pm, it dies down. But there was once when we, unfortunately, had a cat on the street who wouldn't stop meowing all the way to the morning. The windows aren't double-glazed so it doesn't filter the sound well. I recommend good ear plugs if you're a light sleeper and aren't used to the noise. The mattress we had was a little hard. If you have backpain, this might be a bit of a difficulty. You can contact the staff before your arrival to see they can help you. Payment: When we arrived, they had problems with their POS system. Be ready to find an alternative payment.

"Very Good"
Clean, good-sized room in a central location.
What could be improved: Our room (garden view) didn't have any natural light. And the apartment is in a cafe so there is noise during the day. This wasn't a problem for us but just so you're aware!

"Clean, comfortable, and welcoming—couldn’t have asked for a better stay!"
Perfectly located hotel with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The staff, particularly Damien, was super friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. Communication on WhatsApp was quick and efficient. The rooms were spotless, well-maintained, and cosy. Overall, a great experience—I’d happily stay here again! ⸻
What could be improved: There is no lift, so if you get a room on a higher floor, be prepared to climb the stairs. Better to inform the staff beforehand.

The location is great for either getting a grab or walking into district 1. It’s on a side street and so away from the busier roads, the staff were very helpful and lovely.

"A cozy, quiet, and stylish place right in the heart of the city."
I really loved the atmosphere - the green facade, modern interior, and thoughtful details created a sense of comfort and tranquility. Despite the central location, the house was surprisingly quiet, making it perfect for a restful stay. The hosts were friendly and always ready to help. An excellent choice for anyone looking to combine comfort with a convenient location. I’ll definitely come back again!
