A&EM Art Hotel
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into A&EM Art Hotel, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name. But you know what? This four-star place actually lives up to its artistic promise in ways that surprised me. The lobby hits you with this curated gallery vibe, and I mean that in the best way possible – it’s not trying too hard, but there’s clearly thought put into every piece hanging on the walls.
The rooms are where this place really shines, actually. Mine had this contemporary Vietnamese art theme going on (each floor seems to have a different artistic focus), and the attention to detail was impressive for a mid-range hotel. The bed was genuinely comfortable – not just hotel-marketing comfortable – and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. What I appreciated most was the lighting; they clearly understand that harsh overhead lights kill any ambiance. The air conditioning was quiet too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.
Now, I won’t sugarcoat it – with a 7.1 rating, there are some rough edges. The breakfast spread was pretty standard, nothing to write home about, and the wifi could be spotty on higher floors. But honestly? The staff made up for a lot of that. They seemed genuinely interested in helping rather than just going through the motions, and their English was solid. I had an issue with my key card one evening, and instead of the usual “try again later” response, someone actually came up to fix it within ten minutes. The concierge also gave me some solid local recommendations that felt authentic rather than the usual tourist traps – there’s this little pho place about two blocks away that became my morning routine. For the price point, you’re getting more personality and character than you’ll find at the generic international chains, and sometimes that matters more than perfect execution on every detail.
