Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Modern Calmette Home – Central HCMC Comfort & Convenience, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like another boutique place tucked between the busy cafes on Calmette Street. But you know what? This little four-star gem actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The thing about staying right in District 1 is that you’re literally in the heart of everything, and I mean everything. Step outside and you’re maybe three minutes from Ben Thanh Market (though honestly, the street food stalls closer to the hotel are way better and half the price). The Saigon Opera House is right there if you’re into that scene, and Notre-Dame Cathedral is close enough for an early morning walk before the tour buses descend. What I really loved though was how quiet it gets inside – you’d think being on Calmette would mean constant motorbike noise, but somehow the rooms are well-insulated enough that you can actually sleep without earplugs.
The staff here gets it – they’re not overly formal but they know their stuff. When I mentioned wanting to find good pho that wasn’t touristy, the guy at the front desk drew me a little map to this place about six blocks away where locals actually eat breakfast. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you want, right? The rooms themselves feel modern without being sterile – clean lines, decent air conditioning (crucial in Ho Chi Minh City, trust me), and bathrooms that actually have proper water pressure. I stayed during the rainy season and never had any issues with dampness or weird smells, which honestly can be hit or miss with some places in the city. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which matters if you’re trying to upload photos or work remotely. One small thing – the elevators are a bit slow, but it’s only a few floors anyway so not a huge deal. What really sold me was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days rather than just passing through – good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and a mini-fridge that actually keeps things cold. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed apartment rather than a generic hotel room, which makes sense given the name.

"Lovely service from host - central location also."
Staff checked in often and ensured we had everything we needed.
What could be improved: Location is through a hairdressers - having to walk through this each time to go in or out of the apartment.

"I will definitely stay here again when I travel to HCM."
Very close to everything. It's either short Grab ride away or you can walk to major streets and markets within 15 minutes. Studio was spacious, great AC + washer. The host was very assuring on whether if I was satisfied and responsive.
What could be improved: The room needs to take 4 flights of stairs and it could get a little loud at mornings, but the room is very worth it.

"We enjoyed our stay"
This property has everything you need for a stay in Ho Chi Minh City. It is within walking distance of all the major attractions. Bin was most helpful and always responsive to any questions and gave clear instructions.
We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it as a comfortable, clean and central accommodation .
What could be improved: The only minor downside for us was having to walk through the hair salon to get to the room. They were lovely, but we felt like we were intruding on their business space.

"Had a very good and comfortable 8-day stay here exploring the city and doing a bit of work remotely, I definitely recomm"
Fantastic location, very clean and comfortable, quite spacious for a studio, helpful host, smooth checkin and checkout
What could be improved: I stayed in the studio, there is only one small window with not much of a view so the room can feel a little boxed in. You have to go through a hair salon to get to the property so it can feel awkward getting in and out but it’s not a big deal

"the biggest advantage is the great contact with the owner, who is very helpful, we got a lot of tips"
the biggest advantage is the great contact with the owner, who is very helpful, we got a lot of tips from him. Great location. We could leave our luggage when we arrived early in the morning. An additional advantage is the washing machine, fridge and kitchen, which we did not use. The bed is very comfortable. At the end of the trip in Vietnam we wanted to rent this place again but it was already booked. We recommend renting scooters from a friend of the owner of the property
