Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Cozrum Homes – Charming Corner, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. It sounds a bit made-up, doesn’t it? But you know what, sometimes these smaller places surprise you, and this three-star spot actually turned out to be one of those pleasant discoveries that you stumble upon when the bigger hotels are booked solid.

The thing about Charming Corner is that it really does live up to that “homes” part of its name. It feels more like staying in someone’s well-maintained guesthouse than a traditional hotel, which honestly was exactly what I needed after dealing with the sterile corporate chains on the rest of my trip. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – I mean, the furniture isn’t matching perfectly, but everything’s clean and thoughtfully arranged. There’s actual character here, with little touches like proper reading lamps (thank god) and enough outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your devices. The bathrooms are compact but functional, and I was pleasantly surprised by the water pressure, which can be hit-or-miss at places in this price range.

What really won me over was how the staff actually seemed to care about making your stay work. The front desk folks – and I think there were maybe three people total running the whole operation – knew everyone’s names by the second day and had genuine recommendations for places to eat nearby. Not the touristy spots either, but the kind of local joints where you end up having the best meal of your trip. The breakfast situation is pretty basic (think continental plus a few hot items), but they make a decent coffee and the pastries are clearly from a real bakery down the street. Parking was straightforward, which saved me the headache of circling blocks looking for street spots. The neighborhood itself is quieter than I expected – you’ll hear some street noise during the day, but it settles down nicely in the evenings. I actually found myself looking forward to coming back to the room rather than dreading it, which says something. Sure, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a concierge service, but if you want a comfortable base that doesn’t feel like every other place you’ve stayed, Cozrum Homes delivers on that promise.
