Anpha Apartment Hotel Ben Thanh
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Anpha Apartment Hotel Ben Thanh on Lê Thánh Tôn Street, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The building doesn’t scream luxury from the outside, but you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want in Ho Chi Minh City. This three-star spot sits right in the thick of District 1, and I mean literally a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market – which, trust me, is both a blessing and a curse depending on how you feel about the constant hum of motorbikes and street vendors calling out their prices.
What actually surprised me was how spacious the rooms feel once you get inside. These aren’t your typical cramped hotel boxes – they’ve got apartment-style layouts with little kitchenettes that come in handy when you’re tired of pho for breakfast (though honestly, who gets tired of pho?). The air conditioning works like a dream, which is crucial because Ho Chi Minh City doesn’t mess around with its humidity. I stayed here during the rainy season, and while you can definitely hear the street noise – motorbikes, construction, the occasional karaoke session from somewhere nearby – the windows do a decent job of keeping the worst of it out. The staff at reception speak solid English and actually seem to know the neighborhood well. When I asked about getting to the War Remnants Museum without dealing with tourist taxi prices, the guy at the front desk drew me a little map showing which alleys to cut through.
Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy place you’ll ever stay, but it hits that sweet spot of being clean, functional, and genuinely well-located without breaking the bank. The elevator’s a bit slow (and I mean really slow), but the wifi is reliable throughout the building, and they’ve got a decent breakfast setup if you don’t feel like navigating the street food scene first thing in the morning. What I really appreciated was being able to walk to Saigon Opera House in about ten minutes, and the whole backpacker district on Bui Vien Street is close enough to explore but far enough away that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 3 AM. The neighborhood itself has that authentic Saigon energy – local coffee shops where they’ll make you a ca phe sua da for practically nothing, tailors who can whip up a suit in 24 hours, and enough street food options to keep you busy for weeks. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually staying in the city, not just visiting it.
Ho Chi Minh City’s apartments offer urban accommodations with city views, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally diverse Vietnamese metropolis.
