LeParc Hotel – Ben Thanh Market
You know what caught me off guard about LeParc Hotel – Ben Thanh Market? Walking up to this place on Lê Thánh Tôn Street, I honestly expected just another budget spot trying to capitalize on the Ben Thanh Market crowds. But this three-star property actually gets it right in ways that matter. The lobby’s compact but thoughtfully designed – none of that cramped feeling you sometimes get in District 1 hotels where every square meter costs a fortune. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure I knew my way around the neighborhood, which I mean, when you’re literally a three-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market’s chaos, that local knowledge becomes pretty valuable.
The rooms surprised me too. Sure, they’re not huge – this is central Ho Chi Minh City after all – but there’s something refreshing about a hotel that focuses on doing the basics really well rather than cramming in unnecessary features. The air conditioning actually works (and trust me, you’ll need it), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes like some places I’ve stayed in the area, and honestly, the beds are more comfortable than they have any right to be for this price point. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being right in the thick of everything. You’d think with Ben Thanh Market so close and all the street food vendors setting up their evening operations just outside, it would be a noise nightmare, but the rooms facing the inner courtyard are surprisingly peaceful. The ones facing the street? Well, you’ll definitely know you’re in Vietnam’s busiest city, but even those aren’t unbearable.
Here’s the thing though – and this is where LeParc really wins me over – it’s the location that makes this place special, but not in the obvious touristy way. Yes, you can stumble to Ben Thanh Market in your pajamas if you wanted to, but more importantly, you’re positioned perfectly for the real Ho Chi Minh City experience. Those incredible bánh mì stalls on Hai Bà Trưng Street are a five-minute walk. The Independence Palace area is totally walkable. And when you want to escape the tourist bubble, you can easily hop on a taxi or Grab to explore the local districts without feeling like you’re starting from the middle of nowhere. The 9.1 rating this place has earned makes total sense once you stay here – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does deliver feels authentic and practical. I’d honestly choose this over some of the flashier hotels in the area, especially if you’re the type of traveler who wants to actually experience the city rather than hide from it.
To book a hotel in Ho Chi Minh City during the dry season from December to April, travelers need early planning as this energetic city draws visitors eager to explore its rich history and world-famous street food scene.
