Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Vân Anh Luxury? The name makes it sound way fancier than it actually is – and I mean that in the best possible way. This three-star place on Ky Con street doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which honestly makes it more charming than half the overpriced hotels I’ve stayed at in District 1.
The location is actually pretty smart if you know Ho Chi Minh City at all. Ky Con isn’t one of those crazy busy streets where you’re dodging motorbikes every two seconds, but you’re still close enough to walk to Ben Thanh Market without breaking a sweat. I stayed here during the rainy season last year, and while some of the nearby streets turned into small rivers (as they do), this little pocket stayed relatively manageable. The building itself has that narrow Vietnamese hotel vibe – you know, where the elevator feels like a phone booth but somehow everything works perfectly fine.
What I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to care about the details without being overly formal about it. Check-in was smooth, they had decent English, and when I asked about getting to the Cu Chi Tunnels, the front desk guy drew me an actual map instead of just pointing vaguely toward the street. The rooms are clean and well-maintained – nothing Instagram-worthy, but the AC works great (crucial in this humidity), the shower has proper water pressure, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a rooftop pool, but for the price point, it delivers exactly what you need. The wifi was solid too, which matters if you’re trying to stay connected or upload photos without wanting to throw your phone out the window. Late at night, the area gets pretty quiet, so you can actually sleep without earplugs – something I definitely can’t say about hotels closer to Nguyen Hue walking street. If you’re looking for a reliable base in District 1 without paying tourist-trap prices, this place makes a lot of sense.

The room was clean, bed was good and the breakfast was tasty. Overall everything worked and the laundryservice was quick and cheap. But the main thing was; the PEOPLE WERE SO LOVELY. ♥️
Hotel is in the middle of HCMC District 1, so allmost everything, also the real people and athmosphere of Vietnam's one of the biggest city is near. Grab a grab and see even more.
If you're looking for a western top luxury, this is probably not your place, but if you're looking for a nice and clean place surrounded by amazing, helpful people and to sleep in the middle of an authentic neighborhood, this is your place.
I highly recommend. 🙏🏽
What could be improved: As a major animal lover the axolotl at the tank in the lobby made me a sad. He wasn't happy.
If the hotel staff would learn about axolotl's natural habitat, and give him a bigger tank and some nicer athmosphere to live, I think more of us western visitors would be happier. ♥️

"Exceptional"
It was a very nice stay! It is in a great location within walking distance of the centre of the district, yet it was still quiet at night. The service and breakfast were great. The dining area is a bit small, though, so it could get crowded at times. It was also nice that new bottles of water (and towels) were provided daily. If I were to visit Ho Chi Minh city again, I would probably come back to his hotel. :)

"Very lovely, would stay again"
Room was spacious, staff was kind and friendly. Bed was comfy, had daily housekeeping that made our bed, changed towels and left 2 bottles of water everyday. Had yummy vietnamese noodles for breakfast. The hotel is within walking distance to Ben Thanh market (about 12 mins). We were also allowed to check in early. It was a great stay, thank you !!
What could be improved: Wifi did not work that well at times on my phone, but it seemed to work totally fine on my boyfriend's phone.

"Great stay, perfect location!"
The hosts were so kind. The room was spacious and comfortable, we really enjoyed our stay. Great location, walking distance to everything. When we had the ‘do not disturb’ sign on, the hosts left water and clean towels outside our door, which we thought was really kind.
What could be improved: Nothing!

"Great location, friendly staff, A+"
Our stay exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our stays through our trip so far.
The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and attentive.
The breakfast was also fantastic. So many options for either a Western cuisine, or Vietnamese cuisine. Managed to try something different every day! Good selection of fruit also.
The room was also fantastic. Never had any issue with noise or cleanliness. I also appreciated that if we didn't need our room cleaned for the day, the cleaners would still ensure we still had fresh towels and water by leaving it outside our door. This was a really nice touch.
The location was also really good! In district 1 so tour groups would pick us up from the hotel, and also we could walk to most/if not all attractions/restaurants we wanted to visit. At worst, it would be a very short and cheap taxi ride from the hotel.
Great wifi!
We would happily recommend this hotel to any of my friends/family back in New Zealand.
