The RetroMetro Suites by CIRCADIAN
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The RetroMetro Suites by CIRCADIAN, I wasn’t expecting much from the narrow street frontage on Nguyễn Phi Khanh. But man, was I wrong. This four-star boutique spot completely surprised me with how they’ve managed to create something genuinely cool in the heart of District 1.
The whole retro-futuristic vibe actually works, which is rare – usually these themed hotels feel forced, you know? But here, they’ve nailed this sleek 60s-meets-space-age aesthetic without making it feel like a gimmicky Disney ride. The suites are spacious (and I mean actually spacious, not “spacious for Vietnam” spacious), with these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the rooms with natural light. What really got me was the attention to detail – the custom furniture has this mid-century modern feel, and the bathrooms feature these amazing terrazzo finishes that somehow feel both vintage and contemporary. The beds are seriously comfortable too, which matters when you’re dealing with jet lag or long days exploring Ho Chi Minh City.
Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned without being in the absolute chaos of the main tourist strips. Nguyễn Phi Khanh is this quiet little street that locals actually use, so you get a real feel for the neighborhood. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market – close enough that you can pop over for some proper street food, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the constant motorbike noise and tourist crowds. The Japanese Quarter is right around the corner, and honestly, some of the best pho I had during my stay was at a tiny place just two blocks away that the hotel staff recommended. They seem to really know their neighborhood, which I appreciated – none of that generic “oh, everything nearby is wonderful” nonsense. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you experience their service level; it’s attentive without being hovering, if that makes sense. They helped me figure out the whole Grab situation and gave me actual useful tips about avoiding the tourist traps. One small thing – the elevator can be a bit slow during busy times, but that’s honestly my only real complaint. For what you get, especially in this part of the city, it’s genuinely impressive how they’ve created this little oasis that feels both distinctly Vietnamese and internationally sophisticated.
Ho Chi Minh City’s apartments offer urban accommodations with city views, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally diverse Vietnamese metropolis.
