I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Velvet Nest Apartment near Local Streetfood – District 1 – Elevator Access & Free Laundry, I thought it was a bit much. But you know what? They’re not kidding about any of it, especially that streetfood part. This four-star apartment sits right on Nguyễn Trãi Street, and I mean, you’re literally steps away from some of the best bánh mì and phở spots in Ho Chi Minh City. The elevator thing might seem random to mention in the name, but trust me – after a day of wandering around District 1 in that heat and humidity, you’ll appreciate not having to haul your luggage up three flights of stairs.
The apartment itself actually feels more like a boutique hotel room than your typical Airbnb situation. Everything’s pretty well thought out – the air conditioning works properly (crucial), there’s decent water pressure in the shower, and honestly, having that free laundry setup right there is a game changer if you’re doing the whole Southeast Asia backpacking thing. I stayed there during the rainy season, and being able to dry clothes indoors without turning the place into a steam bath was clutch. The “velvet nest” name starts making sense when you’re inside – they’ve gone with this sort of cozy, slightly luxe vibe with dark colors and soft textures that somehow works despite the tropical setting outside.
What really sold me on the place though was the location within District 1. You’re close enough to all the touristy stuff like Ben Thanh Market and the Notre Dame Cathedral, but you’re not right in the middle of the backpacker chaos. Nguyễn Trãi can get busy during rush hour – I mean, it’s a major street – but it quiets down at night, and the building has decent soundproofing. The host was super responsive when I had questions, and check-in was smooth even though I arrived pretty late. One tiny thing – the WiFi can be a bit spotty during peak evening hours when everyone’s online, but that’s pretty standard for this part of the city. Overall, if you want something that feels more grown-up than a hostel but doesn’t cost hotel prices, and you actually want to eat amazing street food without having to trek across town for it, this place delivers on what it promises.

"Inconvenient, noisy"
Location was good
What could be improved: Booked for 8 nights and they confirmed, when I arrived only had 2 nights available, had to move rooms each day . Coffee shop below is 24hours so blenders , coffee grinders and loud chatting till all hours . If your a light sleeper don't book here

This was my first time visiting Vietnam, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! As someone who's traveled to many countries, I can confidently say this was one of the most memorable accommodations I’ve experienced.
The location is absolutely ideal — close to everything I wanted to explore, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private. The room itself was beautifully designed with modern interiors, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
What truly made the difference was the staff. Everyone I interacted with was incredibly warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Their hospitality made me feel like more than just a guest — it felt like home.
If you're coming to Vietnam, especially for the first time, I can't recommend this place enough. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help with a smile. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. I especially loved the cozy bed and the beautiful view from the window. The location is perfect – close to everything I needed. Breakfast was delicious with many great options. Everything was well organized and made me feel relaxed and happy. I would definitely come back and recommend this place to everyone!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I must say that it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the level of hospitality and attention to detail.
The room I stayed in was absolutely stunning. Spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, it provided a perfect retreat after a long day of sightseeing. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay, including a well-stocked minibar, a large flat-screen TV, and a very stylish bathroom. The view from the window was also amazing, giving me a beautiful glimpse of the city.
What truly stood out during my stay, however, was the service. The staff were warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. From the check-in process to helping me with directions around the city, they went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. I particularly appreciated how attentive they were without being intrusive, always greeting me with a smile and offering assistance when necessary.
The hotel also has a great location, close to several attractions, restaurants, and shops, making it very convenient for tourists. The overall ambiance of the hotel is relaxing and welcoming, which made my stay all the more enjoyable.

Ukupno sam imao ugodan boravak. Soba je bila čista i udobna, sa svim osnovnim sadržajima. Osoblje je bilo ljubazno i uslužno tijekom cijelog boravka. Lokacija je bila pogodna, blizu restorana i javnog prijevoza. Razmislio bih o ponovnom boravku ovdje.
