Overview
You know what surprised me most about Somerset Chancellor Court Ho Chi Minh City? It’s how quiet the rooms are despite being smack in the middle of District 1’s chaos. I mean, you step outside and you’re immediately hit with that symphony of motorbikes and street vendors, but inside – honestly, it’s like someone flipped a switch.
The location is actually perfect if you want to explore Ho Chi Minh City properly. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market (though I’d skip the tourist prices there and head to the local spots instead), and the Saigon Opera House is right around the corner. What I really appreciated was being able to walk to Dong Khoi Street for dinner without dealing with taxi negotiations every night. The apartments themselves feel more like temporary homes than hotel rooms – full kitchens, proper living spaces, the works. It’s this five-star serviced apartment setup that makes longer stays actually comfortable. I stayed for a week and found myself cooking breakfast most mornings, which saved a ton of money and felt surprisingly normal.
The rooftop pool area deserves a mention too. Sure, it’s not massive, but the city views are pretty spectacular, especially around sunset when the whole district starts lighting up. I’d usually head up there around 6 PM to avoid the afternoon heat – trust me on this one. The staff were genuinely helpful without being pushy, which is refreshing. When my flight got delayed and I needed to extend my stay, they sorted it out in minutes rather than making me fill out forms in triplicate. One small thing that bugged me initially was the elevator situation during peak hours (lots of business travelers checking in around the same time), but honestly, it wasn’t a deal-breaker. The apartments are well-maintained, modern without feeling sterile, and the air conditioning actually works properly – which, if you’ve spent any time in Vietnam during the humid months, you’ll know is crucial. What really sold me on the place was how it struck this balance between being in the thick of everything while still feeling like a proper retreat when you needed it.
Ho Chi Minh City’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of traditional Vietnamese hospitality and modern luxury, with many featuring rooftop pools and authentic spa experiences overlooking the vibrant Saigon skyline.

"Fabulous apartments for families"
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment that was very clean and huge! The kitchen was well stocked including oven, hob, microwave kettle and toaster. Rooms were serviced daily including changing the towels.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially Ken. He made my autistic son feel right at ease from the moment we walked into the reception. They recommended a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant a few minutes walk away called Nem.
My children loved the pool and there is a supermarket beside the hotel that was very handy.
We will definitely stay here again in the future.

"Perfect hotel for a short or long stay in the city"
Brilliant central location, lovely pool area and gym, friendly helpful staff. We had a 2 bed apartment. It was extremely clean and spacious but also felt homely and comfortable. Very well equipped with washer dryer, smart TV etc. Had everything we needed. Superb value for money.
What could be improved: Nothing, it was perfect for our city break. Would 100% stay there again.

"Exceptional"
The size, cleanliness, airconditiing, wifi and location. Everything met or exceeded expectations. We are a family of four and all of us found the appartment really comfortable. The gym is good for a hotel gym and has enough equipment for a good workout. The pool is ok probably could use an upgrade but was great to use after sightseeing. The location is great with almost all major tourist attractions walkable or a short grab rode away. There is a mini markt and we got fruit, drinks and snacks there.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didnt like. It prpbably will need an upgrade in the next few years but that is just style.

"Very Good"
We stayed in a suite with two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen perfect for families. There was also a washing machine, which we used easily. The room was very clean, and housekeeping came daily, which was a big plus for me.
A thoughtful touch was the large gallon of drinking water provided in the kitchen. It made it easy to refill our water bottles each day, which was great for both us and the environment.
The hotel pool was perfect for my kids spacious and at a comfortable temperature for the weather. There's also a well-stocked supermarket on-site and a fantastic Japanese restaurant that we really enjoyed.
The location is excellent, within walking distance of many major attractions.
