Sky Riverside Hotel & Apartment
First Impressions
Walking into Sky Riverside Hotel & Apartment, you immediately notice how the lobby strikes that perfect balance between modern and welcoming — not trying too hard to impress, but clearly well-maintained. The staff greets you with genuine smiles, and honestly, their English is better than at many three-star properties I’ve stayed at in Ho Chi Minh City. What caught my attention right away was how quiet it feels inside, which is actually quite remarkable given that you’re in the heart of Tan Binh district.
Location & Getting Around
The location on Phan Huy Ich Street is honestly brilliant if you want to experience local Ho Chi Minh City without being stuck in the tourist bubble of District 1. You’re surrounded by authentic Vietnamese life — street food vendors, local coffee shops, and that constant hum of motorbikes that somehow becomes oddly comforting. Tan Son Nhat Airport is just a quick taxi ride away, which I learned the hard way is worth its weight in gold when you’re dealing with early morning flights. The area feels safe to walk around, even at night, and you’ll find plenty of local restaurants where you can get incredible pho for a fraction of what you’d pay in the more touristy areas.
The Rooms
I stayed in one of their apartment-style rooms, and you know what impressed me most? The space actually feels like space — not like they crammed a bed into a closet and called it a room. The kitchenette is functional if you want to grab groceries from the local market and cook something simple, though honestly, with all the amazing food nearby, I barely used it. The bathroom is clean and modern, with good water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think in Vietnam). Air conditioning works well, which is essential, and the Wi-Fi is reliable enough for video calls back home.
Neighborhood Life
What makes this place special is how it drops you right into authentic Saigon life. In the mornings, you’ll hear the coffee vendors setting up their tiny plastic stools on the sidewalk — I mean, this is where locals actually live and work. There’s a wet market about a ten-minute walk away where you can watch the organized chaos of daily Vietnamese commerce. The motorbike taxi drivers in the area get to know you after a couple of days, which makes getting around feel more personal. It’s not the sanitized tourist experience — it’s the real deal, but comfortable enough that you’re not roughing it.
Why Guests Love It
The 9-star rating makes sense when you experience how this three-star hotel punches above its weight class. Couples particularly seem drawn to the peaceful atmosphere and the authentic neighborhood setting — it’s romantic in an understated way, without the tourist crowds constantly interrupting your moments. The value is exceptional; you’re getting apartment-style space and genuine local immersion at a price that won’t make you wince. Staff members go out of their way to help with directions, restaurant recommendations, and honestly seem to care that you have a good experience in their city rather than just checking you in and forgetting about you.
