S79 Friday Hotel
You know what struck me first about S79 Friday Hotel? It’s this sleek, modern tower that somehow doesn’t feel cold or corporate – which honestly surprised me, given how new everything looks. I mean, when you’re walking down Lê Hồng Phong street in District 10, you pass a bunch of local shops and street food stalls, then suddenly there’s this polished four-star property that fits right into the neighborhood without trying too hard to stand out.
The location is actually pretty clever if you think about it. Most tourists stick to District 1, but being in District 10 means you’re close to Ky Hoa Park (perfect for morning jogs, by the way), and you can still grab a taxi to the city center in about 15 minutes – longer during rush hour, but that’s Ho Chi Minh City for you. What I loved was stepping out in the evening and finding all these local bánh mì spots and coffee places that haven’t been discovered by every travel blog yet. The hotel staff actually gave me directions to this incredible bún bò huế place around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise.
Inside, the rooms are what you’d expect from a newer property – clean lines, good Wi-Fi, air conditioning that actually works (crucial in this climate). The beds are comfortable, though I did notice the pillows are on the firmer side, which some people love and others… well, you might want to ask for extras if you prefer something softer. Honestly, what impressed me most was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re on a fairly busy street. The windows must be well-insulated because I barely heard the motorbike traffic that never really stops in this city. The bathroom setup is smart too – separate wet and dry areas, which makes so much sense when you’re dealing with tropical humidity. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk folks speak solid English, plus they seem to genuinely know the area well rather than just reading from a script. I asked about getting to the airport early in the morning, and they arranged a taxi that showed up exactly when promised – sometimes it’s the simple things that matter most when you’re traveling.
Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card at check-in.
