You know what caught me off guard about S Lux Apartment? Walking into The Tresor building on Ben Van Don Street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the address – District 4 isn’t exactly where most tourists end up. But this four-star place sits right in one of those sleek new developments that’s transforming this whole area, and I mean, the lobby alone made me do a double-take.
The apartment itself feels more like staying at a well-heeled friend’s place than a typical hotel room. Everything’s got that modern Vietnamese aesthetic – clean lines, but with touches that actually feel local rather than generic international. The kitchen setup is legit too, which matters when you’re in Ho Chi Minh City and want to grab fresh stuff from Ben Thanh Market to cook up. Actually, being in District 4 puts you right across the river from District 1’s chaos, but without the motorbike symphony going all night. I slept better here than I did at pricier spots in the main tourist zone, honestly.
What really sold me was the view – you’re high enough to see the Saigon River, and depending on which way your unit faces, you might catch those gorgeous sunsets over the water. The building’s got solid amenities (the pool deck is where you’ll want to spend your late afternoons), but it’s the location that’s the real winner here. You’re a quick Grab ride to anywhere that matters – District 1, the markets, even out to District 7 if you’re doing business stuff. Plus, there’s this whole food scene developing right in the neighborhood that most guidebooks haven’t caught onto yet. The staff actually knows the area well enough to point you toward the good local spots, which… well, that’s rarer than it should be. For the price point and that 8.4 rating, it makes sense – this place delivers on being a proper base for exploring the city without making you feel like you’re staying in a tourist bubble.

"Definitely recommended"
Everything was great!! The pics are not what you get but it's not bad considering the facilities they provide and the comfort overall.
Location is perfect and it's a bliss to get around D1 from there. A 10min walk.
What could be improved: Initially the AC didn't work effectively but then the owner got it fixed. Kudos to handling that in such short notice tho.

The room and building were good it was close to facilities like supermarkets and some good coffee shops and town. the host was very helpful.

"Good value for money and great location👍"
Property was lovely! Our flat wasn’t as up market as some of the flats in the pictures but it was still a great place to stay on the outskirts of the city. Had everything we needed, from toilet paper and water to a nice tv :)

"Wonderful stay, if the communication process can be improved"
Fantastic unit. You will get what you need for a short staycation in HCMC.
What could be improved: Communication with the unit and host can definitely be and must be improved. Receptionist should be professional and know their duty well. Check in process can be simplified and be seamless. The incident happened to my family, during the checking in process, should be avoided at all cost.

"Spacious apartment with perfect bed and great gym"
The apartment was spacious and well-equipped. We were very happy to have a washing machine and a super comfortable bed. The gym and the location were also great.

"Pleasant"
It was much bigger than we expected. We had a full apartment to ourselves with a kitchen, living room, utility room equipped with a washing machine and a separate room for the bedroom and bathroom. It was very clean and the view from the room was very good.
What could be improved: Located in a dodgy area and a bit far from the main sites. It was walkable to the main centre but at night we got a taxi back for safety reasons as advised. Also, most tour companies offering tours to the Cu Chi Tunnels will only do hotel pick up if you are in district 1 so keep that in mind. There was also many signs in the lobby saying that short term accommodation is not permitted which made us feel a bit unwelcome.

"Great location and generously sized room excellent value for money."
Apartment was generously sized and easily fitted out family of 4. It was well fitted out and the use of the small kitchen was great to eat meals at home. Close enough to walk to the main tourist area in District 1 r. Some great local eateries around and access to a small mini mart and other essentials.
What could be improved: There was a change in the arrangement between the appartments and the building meaning we couldn’t access the pool or other communal spaces (as advertised) which was a shame but the owners were very apologetic about it.

"Excellent place and lovely location."
Everything, location and amenities. Very convenient.
What could be improved: We had a surprise police 👮 check which was very intimidating and insulting. Seems the residents have been protesting for short term rental and someone complained.
