Phu My Hung – Saigon South Serviced Apartments 2 – Near Vivo City Mall
I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Phu My Hung – Saigon South Serviced Apartments 2 – Near Vivo City Mall, I thought the name was a bit of a mouthful, but after staying there twice now, I get why they mention Vivo City right in the title. You’re literally a five-minute walk from one of Ho Chi Minh City’s best shopping malls, which sounds touristy but is actually incredibly practical when you need groceries, want decent coffee, or just need air conditioning on a sweltering afternoon.
The thing about District 7 that most people don’t realize is how different it feels from the chaos of District 1. This whole Phu My Hung area is sort of like Vietnam’s answer to a planned community – wider streets, actual sidewalks you can walk on, and way less motorbike madness. The apartments themselves feel more like a proper four-star hotel than typical serviced apartments I’ve stayed in around Southeast Asia. My unit had this massive living room with floor-to-ceiling windows that actually opened (you know how rare that is in newer buildings?), a kitchen that wasn’t just for show, and honestly, the best shower pressure I’ve experienced in Vietnam. The building’s got that new-ish feel without being sterile, and the lobby area has these comfy seating areas where I’d sometimes work in the evenings because the wifi was rock solid.
What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood vibe. You’ve got decent Western food options within walking distance – there’s this Italian place called Ciao Bella that locals actually go to, not just expats – but you’re also close enough to more traditional Vietnamese spots along Nguyen Van Linh Boulevard. The staff here genuinely seems to know the area well; they pointed me toward this fantastic banh mi cart that I never would have found otherwise, tucked away near the park. Parking‘s a breeze if you’re renting a motorbike, and they’ve got proper security which matters more than you might think. The only minor gripe I had was that housekeeping can be a bit inconsistent – sometimes they’d come early, sometimes not at all without reminding them – but honestly, for the space you get and the location, it’s pretty hard to beat. Plus, when you’re staying somewhere with a 9 out of 10 rating, you sort of expect these little details to work themselves out, and they usually do.
