You know what caught me off guard about Oasis Central Residence & Hotel – Soho Residence? I was expecting another generic business hotel in District 1, but this place actually has some personality to it. Walking into the lobby, there’s this clean, modern vibe that feels more like a boutique property than your typical four-star setup – and honestly, the 9.1 rating makes sense once you spend a night here.
The location on Co Giang Street is pretty clever, actually. You’re right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City without being stuck in the absolute chaos of the main tourist strips. I mean, you can still hear the motorbikes – this is Saigon after all – but it’s not that overwhelming wall of sound you get closer to Ben Thanh Market. The Soho Residence building itself has this interesting mix of residential and hotel guests, which gives the whole place a more lived-in feel than those sterile international chains. There’s something refreshing about seeing actual locals in the elevator alongside tourists fumbling with their key cards.
What really impressed me was how they’ve thought through the small stuff. The rooms are well-designed with proper blackout curtains (crucial if you’re dealing with jet lag), and the air conditioning actually works without sounding like a helicopter landing on your roof. The bathrooms have decent water pressure too, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. I stayed during the rainy season and never had any issues with dampness or that musty smell that plagues so many hotels in the tropics. The staff seems genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions – they actually know the neighborhood and can point you toward the good pho spots that aren’t tourist traps. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving after 3 PM since they seem to run a tight housekeeping schedule. The whole experience just feels more authentic than those massive hotel complexes where you never see the same face twice at the front desk.

"All the comforts of home"
The check-in instructions were super clear. The place had a fresh scent, dual A/C units, a Bluetooth speaker, and a mini library. The Netflix account was pre-logged in. Everything felt organized and easy. The hot water took a few minutes to kick in, but it was consistent once it started.

Welcome fruit, extra water, and a universal adapter. Check-in guide with photos—can’t get lost. Area is safe for late walks. TV remote needs fresh batteries occasionally.

"The perfect base, in a vibey local area just a step away from the main tourists"
This is a very big apartment complex, just to be clear what it is, but very quiet and private. The apartments inside are fantastic and a great base to explore the city from. The area around is not yet fully developed and is so charming, and bustling with local life. There are incredible little streets with the best street food I've had in Vietnam. Although a lot of tourists stay in this block, the rest of the area is not very touristy (yet). The best part for me is that it is in District 1, but just away from the busy tourist area. I woulds definitely stay here the next time I visit this amazing city.

"Prime access to Saigon river"
Check-in was seamless and the host was attentive. Comfortable queen-sized bed with soft linens. Air conditioning worked great during hot afternoons. Sofa had a small stain but smelled clean

The bed was super comfy, and everything smelled fresh and clean 🛏️. Loved being close to the War Remnants Museum – very moving experience. Street noise early in the morning was slightly noticeable, but still fine.

This place is a good choice in the centre. The cleanliness is impeccable, and the room was vast and cozy, perfect for relaxing after exploring. Its central location made it easy to reach the city center quickly. The hosts were incredibly kind and accommodating; having scooters for rent on-site was the cherry on top!

The apartment was neat and well-equipped, with a full kitchen and washing machine. The building felt secure and surprisingly quiet despite being in a central area.
