You know what caught me off guard about Nijo KAYA Suites – Terra Royal Tower, Highclass, Central & Poker Table? The name honestly makes it sound way more complicated than it actually is. I mean, when I first booked this place on Lý Chính Thắng street, I was expecting some flashy casino setup – turns out the poker table is just a nice touch in the common area that maybe three people actually use.

But here’s the thing about District 3 in Ho Chi Minh City – it’s actually the sweet spot everyone overlooks. You’re literally walking distance from all the Ben Thanh Market chaos, but you can still get a decent night’s sleep without motorbikes revving outside your window at 2 AM. The suites themselves are surprisingly spacious for Vietnam standards, and I appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with the “luxury” thing like some four-star places do. The kitchen setup is legit too – I actually cooked a few meals there instead of eating out every night, which your wallet will definitely thank you for.

What really sold me on this place was the staff’s local knowledge. The guy at the front desk (I think his name was Minh?) gave me the most detailed directions to the real pho spots that locals hit up, not the touristy ones on Đề Thám. And honestly, being on Lý Chính Thắng puts you in this interesting middle ground where you can walk to the fancier spots in District 1, but you’re also close enough to the more authentic neighborhood vibe. The building itself feels solid – good air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, decent water pressure, and the WiFi actually works throughout the suite, which isn’t always a given. I will say the elevator can be a bit slow during busy times, but that’s pretty much my only real complaint. If you’re the type who needs to be right in the thick of the backpacker scene, this might feel a bit removed, but for me that was exactly the point.
