Midtown Apartments by Saigon – Phú Mỹ Hưng
I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Midtown Apartments by Saigon – Phú Mỹ Hưng, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a four-star apartment-style place in District 7. But you know what? This spot actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The thing about Phú Mỹ Hưng is that it feels like a completely different world from the chaotic energy of central Ho Chi Minh City. I mean, you’re still in the thick of things, but it’s this planned district with wide boulevards, actual sidewalks you can walk on, and green spaces that don’t feel like an afterthought. The apartments here really lean into that vibe – they’ve got this modern, almost residential feel that makes you forget you’re staying at what’s technically a hotel. The units themselves are spacious (and I mean actually spacious, not “spacious for Vietnam” spacious), with full kitchens that come in handy when you want to grab some fresh ingredients from the nearby Lotte Mart instead of eating out every single meal. The air conditioning works like a dream – crucial during those sweltering afternoons when even locals are hiding indoors.
What really sold me on this place, though, was how it strikes this perfect balance between being part of the city but not overwhelmed by it. You’re a quick grab ride from District 1 when you want that classic Saigon experience, but you can also just walk to Crescent Mall for some shopping or catch a movie when you need a break from the heat. The neighborhood has this family-friendly energy during the day – lots of locals out with kids, people exercising in the parks – but it quiets down nicely in the evenings. Honestly, the staff seemed genuinely surprised when I mentioned I was a tourist; I think they’re used to business travelers and expat families, which explains why everything runs so smoothly. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, parking is actually available (miracle in this city), and they’ve got a decent pool area where you can escape the afternoon sun. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the kitchens are stocked with the basics, but you’ll want to pick up a few extra items if you’re planning to do serious cooking. All in all, if you’re looking for somewhere that gives you space to breathe while still being connected to everything Ho Chi Minh City has to offer, this place delivers exactly what it promises.
