I’ll be honest, Lucy House isn’t the kind of place that screams luxury from the street – but that’s exactly what I love about it. This three-star gem has this understated charm that grows on you, you know? The moment you walk through the front door, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. The lobby has these worn leather chairs that look like they’ve hosted countless conversations, and honestly, the lighting is just warm enough to make you want to linger with a coffee.

What really struck me during my stay was how the staff seemed to genuinely remember guests – not in that forced, corporate way, but like they actually wanted to help. The woman at reception (I think her name was Sarah?) knew exactly which rooms got the morning sun and which ones stayed quieter during the day. Speaking of rooms, mine had this slightly creaky wooden floor that reminded me of staying at my grandmother’s house, but in the best possible way. The bathroom was spotless, though the shower pressure could be a bit temperamental in the mornings when everyone’s getting ready. Small thing, really, but worth mentioning if you’re the type who needs that perfect wake-up shower.

The breakfast setup is where Lucy House really shines, actually. They’ve got this little dining area that feels more like someone’s well-appointed kitchen than a hotel restaurant. Fresh pastries that arrive warm around 7:30, proper coffee (not that watery stuff you get at some places), and they’ll make you eggs however you want them. I mean, the chef – this cheerful guy who’s been there for years – actually remembers how you like your coffee after the second day. There’s something to be said for that level of attention. The whole place has this 9.1 rating for a reason, and after spending a few nights there, I get it completely. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. You’ll sleep soundly, eat well, and leave feeling like you discovered something special rather than just booking another generic room for the night.
