Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Hidden Mansions Saigon Resort, the name had me picturing some tucked-away colonial villa in District 1. Instead, you’ll find this four-star spot way out in District 12 on Võ Thị Liễu Street, which is… well, it’s definitely off the beaten path. But here’s the thing – that’s actually what makes it interesting.

The location might seem random at first (I mean, District 12 isn’t exactly where most tourists end up), but there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels authentically Vietnamese rather than tourist-central. The resort itself has this sprawling layout with low-rise buildings and plenty of green space, which you absolutely cannot find in the cramped quarters of central Ho Chi Minh City. The rooms are surprisingly spacious – I’m talking actual room to spread out your stuff, not the shoebox situation you get downtown. The pool area is where they really shine though; it’s got this resort vibe going on with plenty of loungers and decent shade, plus it’s usually pretty quiet during weekday afternoons.

Now, you should know what you’re getting into location-wise. Getting to the main tourist areas takes about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic (and there’s always traffic, let’s be real). But the upside? You’re paying way less than you would for comparable quality in District 1, and honestly, the Grab rides aren’t that expensive. The staff here actually seems to care – check-in was smooth, they helped sort out some confusion with my booking, and the housekeeping is solid. The breakfast spread is decent too, though don’t expect anything fancy; it’s more like good, honest Vietnamese and international options that’ll fuel you up for the day. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you know how the city center never really sleeps? Out here, you can actually hear yourself think. The Wi-Fi works well enough for video calls, which was clutch for me since I was working remotely part of my stay. If you’re the type who wants to be walking distance from Ben Thanh Market or the War Remnants Museum, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want a proper place to decompress after long days of exploring, with actual space and a pool you’ll want to use, it’s worth considering the trade-off.

"Hidden gem"
Most of the staff members were extra super nice; I just remember Tam and Mi by name but there was also this super nice lady from last year and they made my stay very pleasant. The manager even organized me flowers and card for my birthday. How amazing is that🎉❤️? Nice pool area. Comfy beds. A little too big pillows for my taste though. Fridge in the room. Good airconditioning. The beef steak was delicious. Good red wine, but you need to buy a full bottle. Lychee martini recommended. Even there are parties/weddings on the weekends they always stop the karaoke by 10 pm.
What could be improved: Because of the big celebration time (30.4.) in Vietnam there was a lot of new and a bit incompetent and slow staff this time at the bar. The breakfast is not good for westerners. For me there was just dry bread and butter to put on it. They make omelets but they are tasteless. You can put at least some seasoning in the omelett even I understand that you can add salt and pepper yourself. I would have hoped at least some sliced cucumber or tomatoes on my bread if you don't have cheese. I also would have hoped for jogurt but they didn't have any 😢 Next time I need to bring my own cheese and jogurt with me. The smoked duck was really dry. Not recommended. And the spaghetti bolognese also had no taste and no cheese, even in the pictures there is cheese on top. The staff doesn't know to tell you anything about the food on the menu. Maybe that was also because of the temporary staff, at least I hope so. Dark rum would be prefered to have in the bar also. The sunbed allowed you to just lay on your back, not turn to lay on your belly. The rooms are a bit dated.

"Really nice envirnoment, really nice staff and good food."
The rooms are really nice, repurposed Colonial homes, and the common space around the pool was ample, green, clean and very pleasant to be in. Great place for a small family for sure as we were able to have a separate bedroom in our suite for our kids... always a bonus when travelling... yet still very afforadable.
What could be improved: The only really fault is the distance from the city center if you are hoping to see some of the touristy stuff. Fortunately cabs are cheap and it does give you a chance to see more of the city, but you are not going to be able to take a short walk and find a nice restaurant if that is what you are hoping for.

"Good"
The resort is beautiful. Little oasis in the big city. It was our 2nd time in Ho chi Minh and we were attending the wedding nearby. If it is your 1st time and you plan on spending lot of time sight seeing, choose hotel in the centre instead. This one is around 40minutes by car to get there. Grab is cheap but you save yourself time. Staff was friendly and pool and bar were great.
What could be improved: We stayed 7 nights and there were 4 nights when we could not use facilities because of events/weddings after 5pm. But there were days when very loud music went off from 12 as they were preparing for the events. While I understand it is important part of their business, it does spoil the holiday for guests who are there to relax.

"Beautiful people who try so hard to make you feel extremely welcome. I would have no hesitations in returning"
Outdoor area comprising of 2 pools and a bar under the shade of palm trees etc
What could be improved: They hold lots of wedding events there so you can sometimes experience a bit of noise in the evening but nothing too dramatic
