Downtown Retro Serviced Apartment
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Downtown Retro Serviced Apartment, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The word “retro” had me wondering if I’d be walking into some kitschy throwback situation, but honestly? This four-star place surprised me in the best way possible.
What you’re getting here is basically the sweet spot between a boutique hotel and a proper apartment rental. The retro vibe they’re going for actually works – think mid-century modern touches without feeling like you’re trapped in a 1970s time capsule. The furniture has those clean lines and warm wood tones that somehow make even a compact space feel sophisticated. You know what I really appreciated? They didn’t go overboard with the theme. It’s more like someone with great taste happened to love vintage design, rather than a designer who got carried away with a concept.
The “serviced apartment” part is where this place really shines, and I mean that practically speaking. You’ve got a proper kitchenette that’s actually functional – not just a mini-fridge and microwave shoved in a corner. I’m talking full-size appliances, decent counter space, real dishes and cookware. After staying in countless hotels where you can barely make decent coffee, having the option to prep your own meals or at least store leftovers properly feels like a luxury. The living areas are thoughtfully laid out too, with enough space that you don’t feel like you’re living on top of your suitcase. There’s something to be said for having separate zones for sleeping, working, and just hanging out – especially if you’re staying more than a night or two.
The service hits that 4-star level without being stuffy about it. Check-in was smooth, housekeeping is thorough but not intrusive, and when I had a question about the building’s wifi (which is solid, by the way), someone actually knew the answer instead of just shrugging. They seem to get that people staying in serviced apartments often have different needs than typical hotel guests – longer stays, more independence, but still wanting things to just work.
What really won me over was the attention to small details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere temporarily. Proper lighting for reading and working, enough outlets in useful places, decent water pressure, and – this might sound minor but it’s not – really good blackout curtains. The building itself feels well-maintained, and while I can’t speak to every unit, mine was quiet even though we’re talking about a downtown location.
Look, at an 8.3 rating, you’re not looking at perfection, and I’d say that’s fair. This isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in town, but what it does, it does really well. If you want that apartment-style flexibility with hotel-level service and a design aesthetic that doesn’t make you cringe, this place delivers. It’s particularly great if you’re in town for business, staying more than a few days, or just prefer having some real living space rather than being cramped in a traditional hotel room.
