Felix Alley
You know what struck me first about Felix Alley? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – it really does feel like you’ve discovered this tucked-away gem that most people just walk right past. I mean, it’s got that four-star polish you’d expect, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole place that caught me off guard.
The lobby has this interesting mix of industrial touches and warm lighting that somehow works perfectly together. I was honestly expecting something more cookie-cutter, but the design team clearly put some real thought into making each space feel distinct. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too – not that overly rehearsed hospitality thing you get sometimes, just actual people who seem to enjoy their jobs. My room was on the quieter side of the building, which I appreciated since I’m one of those light sleepers who notices every little sound.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between modern amenities and character. The bathrooms are properly updated (good water pressure, thank god), but they haven’t stripped away all the personality in the process. You’ll find those little details that show someone was actually thinking about the guest experience – decent outlets near the bed, blackout curtains that actually work, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it was made from dust. The housekeeping is solid too, though I did notice they tend to come by pretty early if you don’t put the do-not-disturb sign out. Honestly, with a 9.1 rating, I was curious if it would live up to the hype, but it really does deliver on the promise of being something special without trying too hard to impress you. It’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to coming back to your room at the end of the day, which – let’s be real – doesn’t happen at every hotel.
