Walking into Caravelle Saigon for the first time, I honestly felt like I was stepping into a piece of history – and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re literally looking out at the old Opera House from some rooms, and the energy of Saigon just pulses around you from the moment you walk outside.

The thing about this place is that it’s got this perfect blend of old-world elegance and modern comfort that actually works. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels that try to pull off this vintage vibe and fall flat, but the Caravelle genuinely earned its reputation back in the day when it was the go-to spot for journalists during the war – there’s even a rooftop bar called Saigon Saigon that supposedly was their hangout. The elevators are a bit slow (honestly, they feel original to the building), but somehow that just adds to the charm rather than being annoying.
