Boss Palace Hotel
So I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Boss Palace Hotel, I was expecting something way more grandiose than what I found. This three-star place has a bit of swagger in its name that doesn’t quite match the reality, but you know what? That’s actually not a bad thing. Sometimes the hotels that promise less and deliver more are the ones that surprise you.
The lobby has this sort of business-meets-casual vibe going on – think dark wood furniture that’s seen better days but still feels solid, and staff who seem to actually know what they’re doing rather than just going through the motions. I mean, the check-in was refreshingly quick, and the guy at the front desk gave me genuine recommendations for dinner spots (not just the overpriced hotel restaurant). The rooms are… well, they’re functional. Clean sheets, decent shower pressure, and – this matters more than you’d think – blackout curtains that actually block light. The AC works without sounding like a jet engine, which honestly puts it ahead of some pricier places I’ve stayed.
What really struck me about this place is how it feels like it knows exactly what it is. The 7.1 rating makes perfect sense when you think about it – it’s not trying to be a luxury experience, but it nails the basics without any pretense. The breakfast spread won’t win awards, but there’s proper coffee and fresh fruit, and the dining area gets good morning light. I actually found myself lingering there longer than expected, just watching the mix of business travelers and tourists figure out their days. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building (tested it in the stairwells because I’m paranoid like that), and there’s this unexpectedly quiet courtyard area that most guests seem to miss entirely. Parking was straightforward too – no valet nonsense, just a simple lot where you can actually maneuver without scraping your bumper. Look, if you’re hunting for Instagram-worthy marble bathrooms or a rooftop infinity pool, keep scrolling. But if you want a place that feels reliable, where the shower gets hot quickly and the bed doesn’t creak when you roll over, Boss Palace Hotel does that job well. It’s the kind of place where you sleep soundly and check out feeling like you got fair value for your money – which, honestly, is harder to find than it should be these days.
