Vinhomes Grand Residences
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Vinhomes Grand Residences on Nguyen Huu Canh, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another apartment building in Binh Thanh District. But you know what? This place completely caught me off guard in the best way possible.
The thing about staying here is that you’re not technically in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s tourist madness, but you’re close enough that a quick Grab ride gets you anywhere you want to go in about 15 minutes. What I actually loved about the location is that you’re right along the Saigon River – and I mean right there. My room had this massive floor-to-ceiling window that looked straight out over the water, and honestly, watching the river traffic in the morning with my Vietnamese coffee became this little ritual I looked forward to. The building itself is part of this huge residential complex, so it feels more like you’re living in the city rather than just passing through as a tourist.
The apartment-style setup is what makes this four-star place special, I think. You get a full kitchen (which saved me so much money on meals), a proper living area, and a bedroom that’s actually separate – not just some cramped hotel box. The kitchen came stocked with basic stuff, though I did have to ask for a coffee maker at the front desk. The washing machine was a lifesaver too, especially during rainy season when nothing dries anyway. What surprised me most was how quiet it stays, even though you’re in this bustling part of the city. The windows are thick, and being up on a higher floor, you get this nice buffer from the street noise. I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional motorbike symphony at rush hour, but it’s not the constant chaos you’d expect. The pool area is actually pretty decent – nothing fancy, but clean and usually not too crowded during weekday afternoons. There’s also a gym that’s better equipped than I thought it would be, though it can get stuffy in the evenings when everyone’s trying to work out after the heat dies down. One thing that threw me off initially was the check-in process – it takes a bit longer than a regular hotel since they’re essentially setting you up in a temporary apartment, but the staff speaks good English and they’re patient about explaining everything. Parking is straightforward if you’re renting a scooter, which I’d definitely recommend for getting around this part of town. The whole experience just feels more authentic somehow, like you’re getting a glimpse of how locals actually live in modern Ho Chi Minh City, rather than being stuck in some generic international hotel bubble.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
