I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Rixx Vincom Center, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like another business hotel from the outside. But this four-star place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe without feeling cold or sterile, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive (you know how rare that can be). What really caught my attention was how they’ve managed to create this sophisticated atmosphere while still feeling approachable – I mean, you don’t feel like you need to whisper or worry about your jeans being too casual.
The rooms are honestly well thought out, with these floor-to-ceiling windows that let in amazing natural light during the day. I stayed on the seventh floor and the city views were pretty spectacular, especially in the evening when everything lights up. The beds are properly comfortable – not just hotel-marketing comfortable – and I actually slept well despite being in the middle of a busy area. You know what impressed me most though? The attention to small details. The bathroom had this rainfall shower that actually worked (shocking, I know), and they’d stocked it with decent toiletries, not the usual tiny bottles of mystery liquid. The Wi-Fi was fast enough that I could actually video call home without pixelated faces, which is always a win in my book.
What makes this place stand out is how it balances being connected to everything while still feeling like a retreat. The location puts you right in the heart of things – you can walk to tons of restaurants and shops – but somehow the hotel itself stays quiet. I think it’s because they’ve really thought about soundproofing, which is something you don’t appreciate until you’ve stayed in places where you hear every conversation in the hallway. The breakfast spread was solid too, with both local and international options that didn’t taste like they’d been sitting under heat lamps since dawn. Honestly, for a hotel that’s clearly targeting business travelers, they’ve created something that works just as well if you’re there for leisure. The pool area on the roof is small but perfectly formed, great for unwinding after a long day of meetings or sightseeing. I’d definitely stay here again – it’s one of those places that just gets the basics right while adding enough special touches to make you feel like you’re somewhere special.
