The Lumiere Condotel Riverside Suite City View
You know what caught me off guard about The Lumiere Condotel Riverside Suite City View? The name makes it sound like one of those generic apartment hotels, but honestly, this place surprised me in the best way. I mean, when you’re staying on Võ Nguyên Giáp in An Phú – which, let’s be real, isn’t exactly District 1 – you don’t expect much. But this four-star spot actually delivers something pretty special.
The suites are genuinely spacious, not just “spacious for Vietnam” if you know what I mean. I had a proper living area with a kitchen that wasn’t just for show – the fridge was full-sized and the stovetop actually worked well. The city view they promise? Well, it’s not the Saigon River (despite “riverside” in the name), but you do get a decent look at the Thu Duc sprawl, which has its own urban energy, especially at night when all the apartment lights create this sort of constellation effect. The building itself feels solid – none of that thin-wall nonsense where you hear every conversation in the hallway. Actually, the soundproofing impressed me because Võ Nguyên Giáp can get pretty busy with motorbikes, but inside it was surprisingly quiet.
What I really appreciated was how the staff handled things without being overly formal about it. Check-in was smooth, they spoke decent English, and when I needed recommendations for local food spots, they pointed me toward places that weren’t just tourist traps – there’s this incredible bánh mì stall about a five-minute walk away that I never would’ve found otherwise. The location grows on you too. Sure, you’re not walking to Ben Thanh Market, but you’re close to Landmark 81 if that’s your thing, and honestly, getting around Ho Chi Minh City by Grab is so cheap that being slightly outside the main tourist zone felt like a bonus. Less chaos, more authentic neighborhood feel. The amenities hit that sweet spot of being functional without trying too hard – decent gym, nice pool area where you can actually relax without fighting for space, and the housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to experience Ho Chi Minh City beyond the backpacker trail but still have a comfortable base with proper amenities.
Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City booking should be done early, especially during peak tourist season when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural events and festivals in District 1 and other iconic locations.
