I’ll be honest – when I first heard about The DeLaSol D4, I wasn’t expecting much from a hotel tucked away in District 4. You know how it is with some of the newer areas in Ho Chi Minh City, they can feel a bit disconnected from the action. But this four-star place actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The location on Ton That Thuyết Street is way more strategic than you’d think at first glance. I mean, District 4 isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, but that’s honestly part of what makes it interesting. You’re close enough to hop over to District 1 in about ten minutes by taxi (or grab a Grab – they’re everywhere), but you get to experience a more authentic slice of the city. There’s this great local coffee spot just around the corner where I’d see the same group of old men playing chess every morning, and the street food scene nearby is absolutely legit – none of that touristy markup you get in the main districts. The hotel itself feels refreshingly modern without being sterile, if that makes sense. The lobby has this clean, contemporary vibe with some nice local touches, and the staff actually seem to care about what they’re doing rather than just going through the motions.

What really got me was the attention to detail – the kind of stuff you only notice when you’ve stayed in way too many hotels. The rooms are properly soundproofed (trust me, this matters in Saigon), the air conditioning actually works without sounding like a jet engine, and they’ve got these little touches like really good coffee in the room and toiletries that don’t smell like industrial cleaner. The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night, which honestly happens more often than it should in this price range. And here’s something you don’t always get – the WiFi is genuinely fast, not that slow connection that barely loads Instagram. The breakfast spread is pretty solid too, mixing Western options with local dishes, though I’d recommend venturing out for pho at least once because there’s this incredible place about a five-minute walk away that opens at 6 AM.

Look, District 4 might not be on every traveler’s radar, but that’s exactly why this place works so well. You get the comfort and service of a proper hotel without the chaos and inflated prices of staying right in the tourist center. Plus, there’s something satisfying about discovering a spot that feels like your own little secret in a city this big. The rooftop area gives you decent views over the river, and it’s actually quiet enough up there to have a conversation without shouting. If you’re the type who likes to explore beyond the usual tourist trail while still having a comfortable base to return to, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.
