The Airport Hotel
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name The Airport Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much. You know how it is with airport hotels, right? Usually they’re just functional boxes where you crash before an early flight. But this three-star place actually surprised me in a few ways, and I mean that in the best sense.
The thing is, it’s one of those hotels that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything fancy. The lobby has this sort of no-nonsense vibe – clean, straightforward, with staff who’ve clearly dealt with every possible travel disaster you can imagine. I watched them handle a family whose flight got canceled at 2 AM, and honestly, they were more patient than I would’ve been. The rooms aren’t going to win any design awards, but they’re properly soundproofed (which is huge when you’re this close to airport traffic), and the beds are actually decent – firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a marshmallow. The shower pressure is solid too, which might sound trivial but trust me, after a long travel day, it matters.
What I really appreciated was the practical stuff they get right. Check-in was fast even during what looked like a busy evening rush, and they have this 24-hour shuttle that runs every fifteen minutes – no waiting around with your luggage wondering if the driver forgot about you. The breakfast starts ridiculously early, which is perfect if you’re catching a morning flight, though I’ll warn you it’s pretty basic continental fare. Nothing gourmet, but the coffee’s strong and there’s enough to fuel you through security lines. The whole place has this efficient, almost European feel to it – everything works, nothing’s flashy, and people seem to know what they’re doing. I stayed here twice now when I had early departures, and both times it just… worked. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need from a hotel.
