I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Serene Apartment at Zenity, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another apartment building on Võ Văn Kiệt Street. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you. This four-star spot sits right in the heart of District 1, and I mean really in the heart of it – you’re literally a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market, which means you’ll hear the city humming below but in the best possible way.
The thing about staying here is that it actually feels like living in Ho Chi Minh City rather than just visiting it. The apartment I stayed in had this modern, clean vibe that somehow didn’t feel sterile – there were these little touches like decent coffee pods (not the terrible instant stuff you sometimes get) and a kitchen that’s actually functional if you want to grab some fresh ingredients from the market and cook something up. The air conditioning works like a dream too, which honestly became my best friend during those sweltering afternoon hours. What really got me was the view from the upper floors – you can see the Saigon River snaking through the city, especially nice around sunset when the whole place takes on this golden glow.
The location is pretty brilliant if you ask me. Sure, Võ Văn Kiệt can get busy during rush hour (I mean, what street doesn’t in Saigon?), but that also means you’re connected to everything. The Independence Palace is maybe a ten-minute walk, and there’s this little alley café about two blocks down that serves the most incredible bánh mì – the kind of place you’d never find unless you were staying in the neighborhood. The staff were genuinely helpful too, not in that over-the-top hotel way, but more like they actually cared about making sure I knew where to find decent pho at 6 AM or how to navigate the crazy traffic patterns around here. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re renting a motorbike, but there’s secure parking in the building, and honestly, you’ll probably end up walking most places anyway. The only minor thing is that the walls are a bit thin – nothing terrible, but you might hear your neighbors getting ready in the morning. Still, for what you get in this part of the city, it’s pretty solid value, especially if you want something that feels more like a temporary home than a hotel room.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
