The rooms are what I’d call comfortably modern without trying too hard to be trendy. Mine had this massive window that looked out over the street chaos below, which honestly was pretty entertaining to watch with my morning coffee. The air conditioning works like a dream (crucial in that humidity), and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with a marshmallow all night. What really impressed me was how quiet it stayed inside despite being surrounded by the typical Saigon symphony of motorbikes and street vendors. The staff – and this is where smaller hotels often shine – actually remembered my name by the second day and had solid recommendations for pho spots that weren’t just tourist traps.

Now, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy pools, but that’s sort of missing the point. The location is absolutely golden if you want to actually experience the city rather than hide from it. I could walk to Nguyen Hue Walking Street in about five minutes, and there’s this amazing banh mi cart literally around the corner that I probably visited way too often. The hotel breakfast was decent – nothing spectacular, but it’ll fuel you up for a day of exploring without breaking the bank. I mean, you’re staying here because you want to be in the middle of everything, right? And honestly, at this price point in this part of the city, Oscar Saigon delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.
