Northern Charm Hotel

I’ll be honest, when I first pulled up to Northern Charm Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from the name – it sounds sort of generic, you know? But this four-star place actually surprised me in the best way. There’s something genuinely welcoming about the lobby that hits you right when you walk in, maybe it’s the way they’ve mixed modern touches with these cozy, almost cabin-like elements that don’t feel forced or theme-park-ish.

The rooms are what really won me over though. I mean, sure, they’re not massive, but they’re thoughtfully laid out – like someone actually considered how you’d move around the space with your luggage scattered everywhere. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m talking about that perfect firmness where you don’t sink in but don’t feel like you’re sleeping on a board), and honestly, the blackout curtains actually work, which is rarer than you’d think. What I appreciated most was the little sitting area by the window – not just a random chair shoved in the corner, but an actual spot where you could have your morning coffee and plan your day without perching on the edge of the bed.

The staff here seems to get that balance between being helpful and not hovering, which I always notice. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling attempts, and when I had a question about late checkout, they just handled it without making it feel like I was asking for a huge favor. The restaurant attached to the hotel is actually decent too – I grabbed dinner there one night when I was too tired to venture out, and it wasn’t the usual hotel food disappointment. They do this salmon dish that’s genuinely good, not just “good for hotel food.” Parking was easy enough, though it fills up during what seems to be their busy season, so maybe don’t count on snagging a spot right by the entrance if you’re rolling in during peak times. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well without trying to be something it’s not, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
