Nhà của Trúc – Emerald Celadon City
I’ll be honest, when I first heard the name Nhà của Trúc – Emerald Celadon City, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – but this place absolutely blew me away. Located on Đường N4 in Tan Phu District, it’s tucked into one of those quieter corners of Ho Chi Minh City that locals love but tourists rarely stumble upon by accident. You know what struck me first? The moment you walk in, there’s this incredible sense of calm that’s honestly hard to find in HCMC. The design seamlessly blends traditional Vietnamese elements with modern touches – I mean, the celadon-inspired color palette isn’t just a clever name, it’s woven throughout the entire space in these subtle, sophisticated ways that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully curated home rather than a standard hotel.
What really sets this four-star gem apart is how thoughtfully everything’s been designed. The rooms are spacious by Vietnamese standards, and I actually loved how they incorporated local materials – there’s this gorgeous use of natural wood and ceramic that feels authentically Vietnamese without being kitschy. The staff here really knows their stuff too; they gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on, including this incredible bún bò Huế place just a ten-minute walk away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking can be a bit tight during peak hours (this is HCMC after all), but they’ve got valet service that takes the stress out of it. I stayed here during Tet season when the city gets absolutely crazy, and somehow this place maintained this zen-like atmosphere – the soundproofing is surprisingly good, which anyone who’s tried to sleep in District 1 during festival season will definitely appreciate.
Here’s the thing though – Tan Phu District isn’t exactly where most tourists plant their flag, but that’s actually part of the charm. You’re getting an authentic slice of local life without the constant hustle of backpackers and tour groups. The nearby wet market in the mornings is incredible for fresh fruit (the dragon fruit here is unreal), and there’s this family-run café about five minutes away where the coffee is better than anything I had in the touristy areas. The hotel’s breakfast spread impressed me too – they do this perfect mix of Vietnamese classics and international options, and their pho actually rivals what you’ll find on the street. Getting to the main attractions takes maybe 20-30 minutes depending on traffic, but honestly, after a day of navigating the chaos of central Ho Chi Minh City, coming back to this peaceful oasis felt like the perfect reset. The value here is exceptional – you’re getting genuine luxury and hospitality at prices that would barely get you a decent room in the city center. If you want to experience HCMC like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through, this is your spot.
