MOTT HAVEN APART – Vinhomes Central Park, Landmark 81 Area & Ice Rink
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name MOTT HAVEN APART – Vinhomes Central Park, Landmark 81 Area & Ice Rink, I thought it was a bit of a mouthful. But you know what? After staying there, I get why they pack so much into the name because this place really does give you access to everything that makes this part of Ho Chi Minh City special.
The apartment is tucked right into the Vinhomes Central Park complex, which – if you haven’t been to Ho Chi Minh City recently – is basically this massive, modern development that feels like stepping into the future. I mean, you’re literally in the shadow of Landmark 81, that super tall skyscraper that dominates the skyline, and honestly, the views from the apartment are pretty spectacular, especially at night when the whole city lights up. What I really loved about staying here was how it felt like having your own place rather than just another hotel room. The kitchen is actually functional (I made coffee every morning), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The four-star rating feels about right – it’s definitely upscale without being stuffy or overly formal.
But here’s the thing that really sets this place apart – that ice rink they mention in the name? It’s not just marketing fluff. There’s actually a proper ice skating rink right in the complex, which sounds random until you realize how cool it is to escape the Ho Chi Minh City heat for an hour. The kids absolutely love it, but honestly, even as an adult, there’s something pretty surreal about ice skating in tropical Vietnam. The whole Vinhomes area has this weird but wonderful mix of urban convenience and resort-like amenities – there’s a decent supermarket downstairs (handy for breakfast supplies), several coffee shops that actually know what they’re doing, and the central park itself is genuinely nice for morning walks or evening jogs. I noticed the building stays pretty quiet even though it’s huge, and the elevator situation isn’t the nightmare you’d expect in a complex this size. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend having the Vietnamese address written down because some taxi drivers get confused by the English name. The area gets busy on weekends with locals enjoying the park and ice rink, but it’s the good kind of busy – families having fun, not chaotic tourist crowds. If you’re looking for that authentic local street food scene, you’ll want to venture out a bit, but for a comfortable base with modern amenities and that unique ice skating novelty, this place delivers exactly what it promises.
