The first thing that struck me was how genuinely comfortable everything felt. I mean, the rooms aren’t going to win any design awards, but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right instead of drowning you in unnecessary frills. The beds are actually comfortable – like, sink-into-them-after-a-long-day comfortable – and the showers have proper water pressure, which is more than I can say for some supposedly fancier places I’ve stayed. The staff seems to genuinely care about your experience too, not in that scripted, over-rehearsed way, but more like they actually want to help. When I had a question about late check-out, the front desk person didn’t just give me the standard policy speech – they actually worked with me to figure something out.

What really sets MoonStay apart though is this sense of unpretentious authenticity that’s getting harder to find these days. The common areas have this lived-in quality that makes you want to actually hang out there instead of just rushing through to your room. I spent way more time than expected just sitting in their little lounge area, catching up on work and people-watching. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building – something I definitely don’t take for granted anymore after some recent travel disasters. And here’s a small thing that stuck with me: they keep the public spaces at just the right temperature, not arctic cold like so many hotels do. You can actually wear normal clothes without freezing or sweating. The breakfast setup is straightforward but thoughtful – nothing fancy, but quality coffee and fresh options that change up day to day. I actually looked forward to it, which says something. Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’ll be bragging about on social media, but it’s exactly the kind of spot you’ll find yourself recommending to friends who want a solid, reliable stay without any nonsense. Sometimes that’s worth more than all the marble and gold fixtures in the world.
