Overview
You know what caught me off guard about M Village Hotel Nguyễn Du? Walking up to this four-star place on Nguyen Du Street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much – the building looks pretty standard from the outside. But step inside and there’s this surprisingly warm, almost boutique-y vibe that most hotels in District 1 completely miss.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Ho Chi Minh City at all. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market (though trust me, you’ll hear the motorbikes long before you see them), and Notre Dame Cathedral is close enough that you can pop over for photos without planning your whole day around it. What I really appreciated, though, was being on Nguyen Du itself – it’s busy enough that you feel connected to the city’s energy, but not so chaotic that you can’t sleep with the windows cracked open. The street food situation nearby is ridiculous in the best way possible. There’s this bánh mì cart that sets up right around the corner every morning around 7 AM, and honestly, it beats anything you’ll get at the hotel breakfast.
Inside, the rooms are… well, they’re solid. Nothing revolutionary, but the AC works hard (which, let’s be real, is half the battle in Saigon), and I actually slept really well despite being a light sleeper. The bathrooms are newer than I expected – looks like they renovated recently because everything feels fresh. Staff at the front desk spoke decent English, which saved me from my terrible Vietnamese more than once. One thing though – if you’re staying during Tet or peak tourist season, the lobby can get pretty packed with tour groups checking in and out. It’s not a dealbreaker, but just… factor that in if you’re planning to hang out downstairs. The rooftop area is where this place really shines, especially around sunset when you can see across District 1’s rooftops. It’s not fancy, but there’s something about watching the city come alive from up there that makes the whole stay feel more authentic. For the price point, especially considering you’re smack in the heart of everything, it’s honestly hard to complain.

"Good for a couple of days in the city on a budget."
Convenient location close to all District 1 attractions. Great size room with a comfy lounge. Bathroom was good size and shower didn’t make whole floor wet. Staff were friendly but didn’t speak great English. Cafe attached to the hotel made pretty good cappuccinos!!
What could be improved: One the A/C’s in our large room didn’t work (no remote??) Breakfast was very disappointing. And the bed was really hard (personal preference only)

"I would stay here again no worries!"
I was immediately given an upgraded room which probably was close to 400 square feet! More than I needed this place could sleep four people easily. The breakfast was good. They were a little slow at having it ready at the advertised time they said was 6:30. But it did not take long for them to be on top of it and you could order your eggs in the meantime while they were still setting up the breakfast. I would give the breakfast a solid 7 out of 10. The staff was super nice.
What could be improved: Breakfast did not really start at 6:30 but that was not that big a deal. They were there setting up so you could still eat.

What could be improved: Apartment was very bare. Did not provide cutlery or tableware. Sofa was a little dirty. Elevator and hallway was dripping water (almost slipped over)

"One night stay in a huge apartments"
I expected a single apartment with 2 bedrooms, but in reality, that was 2 separate apartments with separate entrance doors, each suitable for a family. Our daughter occupied the larger apartment and was very happy to stay there alone :-)
What could be improved: 1. There were problems with locking apartment entrance doors and vestibule door. The receptionist gave us electronic keys, that didn't open the apartment doors. After my complaint, the keys were re-programmed. But we found out that there were no keys to the vestibule door. After my request, the receptionist brought a standard key but I couldn't lock the door with it.
2. Breakfast could be better. There was no buffet, meals shall be ordered from the menu and the choice was poor.

"Friendly and convenient"
The staff were great and ready to help with information and whatever else we required. The place is clean with ample of room and bathroom. It is easy to get around the main places like the market and war memorial.
What could be improved: The water was not hot as expected and they can do better with the breakfast.

"Very Good"
Good location, we were able to check-in earlier, but the condition was upgraded room for 10$. Bed was comfortable, apartment was really big.
What could be improved: Breakfast choice was quite pure, water stream was weak, would be good
to spend some money to renovations.
