Overview

I stumbled across Lotus Lalala Inn Hotel during one of those frantic last-minute booking sessions, and honestly? Sometimes the travel gods just smile on you. This three-star spot sits right on Trần Quốc Thảo street in District 3, which – if you know Ho Chi Minh City at all – puts you in this perfect sweet spot between the touristy chaos of District 1 and the more residential vibes where actual life happens.

The thing about this place is that it gets the basics really, really right. I mean, you’re not going to find marble lobbies or infinity pools here, but what you will find is a genuinely clean room with air conditioning that actually works (trust me, in Saigon’s humidity, this matters more than fancy thread counts), and staff who seem to actually care about helping you figure out the city. The front desk guy – I think his name was Minh – drew me a little map showing which coffee shops the locals hit versus the Instagram spots tourists flock to. You know what I’m talking about if you’ve ever paid 120,000 dong for a mediocre cappuccino near Ben Thanh Market.

What really sold me on the Lotus Lalala was the neighborhood itself. You’re maybe a ten-minute walk from the backpacker strip on Bui Vien, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the 3 AM karaoke spillover. Instead, you wake up to the sound of motorbikes starting their day and street vendors setting up – it’s like getting the real Saigon soundtrack without the hangover crowd. There’s this incredible banh mi cart literally around the corner that opens at 6 AM, and I swear the lady running it makes better sandwiches than half the fancy places charging five times as much. The hotel’s location also means you can actually walk to Tao Dan Park in the morning if you want to see locals doing their tai chi thing, which honestly was one of those unexpected highlights you don’t plan for.

The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid three-star – nothing fancy, but everything works. Hot water shows up when you turn the knob, the bed is comfortable enough that I actually slept through jet lag, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. I did notice some street noise in the mornings, but it’s Ho Chi Minh City – if you want complete silence, you’re in the wrong country entirely. Plus, the hotel’s got this little rooftop area where you can grab your morning coffee and watch the city wake up, which sort of makes up for any minor inconveniences. With a 7.6 rating, you’re looking at a place that consistently delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re more interested in exploring the city than hanging around your hotel room.

I really liked Lotus. It was in a quiet area but easily accessible to shops and facilities. The room was clean and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. I found check in to be a little inconvenient. The rooms were not ready at 2pm. I stayed in two different rooms. One was an hour late. And the other I was unable to check in until 6. I would stay here again though. It was a very nice hotel. Just be careful on the stairs. They are narrow and I banged my head a couple of times (didn't learn from the first time)

"Beautiful stay in a quite neighborhood"
I like how clean the rooms were. The view from the top floor and the incredible staff. Super willing to help, friendly, sweet and kind. I liked staying in a small quite alley but still get great cafe just under the hotel. Has a familiar vibe.
What could be improved: I personally loved the location but it’s a drive to any of the sight seeing points, There’s not as many restaurants as in down town and to allot of services you just need to grab a bike. The rooms seem a bit small, the space feels a bit maximized, and the stairway between the floors is extremely small. But when you get a room with a good view it’s all worth it. And with the Staff just being the sweetest, I actually prolonged my stay.

"A great value for money, but a bit rough"
The staff was very attentive and helpful. The shower was a pleasant surprise: quite a few places in Vietnam have plumbing issues, but here it was perfect. The location is good, with several awesome cafes in a 5 minute walk range Overall, the place felt new and a great value for money
What could be improved: My room was on the ground floor with only a small window, and it had a musty smell. I hope they air it out for the next person The door was semi-transparent with a curtain for cover. A bit of an odd choice for the ground floor next to the lift 😳

"Location for personal needs."
Location. Powerful shower. Opposite coffee shop with spacious garden. Noodle soup with cow tail nearby is a plus. Quiet alley most of the time.
What could be improved: Mosquitos in lower floor room. No towel change service at room. Guest have to go down for extra toiletries and go up to top floor to pick up new towels. Noisy aircon in suite room at 1st floor. Kitchenware not working.

"It was ok, especially thanks to very friendly staff, but the room was a little bit dissapointing."
Very friendly , helpful and responsive staff, nice calm location with some nice places around. Fairly easy to get to the city centre too, especially on a motorbike.
What could be improved: The room looked way different that it was supposed to, lower standard than the photos indicated also there were cloth moths in my room too. Very little sunlight getting into the room too.
