You know what struck me first about Lè Métropole Saigon? It’s got this old-world charm that feels genuinely Vietnamese rather than trying to be some generic international hotel. I mean, the name itself tells you everything – this place has been part of Saigon for decades, and honestly, it shows in the best possible way.
The lobby has these beautiful colonial touches mixed with contemporary Vietnamese art, and the staff – well, they actually remember your name after the first day, which is pretty rare for a four-star property. I stayed here during the rainy season last year, and while some of the rooms facing the courtyard can get a bit humid (just being honest here), the ones with street views have excellent air conditioning that actually works quietly. The breakfast spread is where this place really shines though – you’ll find proper pho alongside decent Western options, and the Vietnamese coffee is strong enough to wake the dead.
What I really appreciate is how the hotel sits right in the heart of District 1 without being on one of those crazy busy streets where motorbikes are honking at 5 AM. You can walk to the main shopping areas and the riverside in about ten minutes, but the side street location means you’ll actually get some sleep. The rooftop bar – and I’m not usually a rooftop bar person – has this view of the city that changes completely between day and night. During the day you see the organized chaos of Saigon spread out below, and at night it transforms into this glittering urban landscape. The pool up there is small but perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring temples and markets in the heat. I did notice the elevators can be slow during peak hours, and the WiFi in some rooms is a bit spotty, but the front desk sorted that out quickly when I mentioned it. The concierge team actually knows the city – they steered me toward this amazing street food spot in District 3 that I never would have found otherwise, and away from the tourist traps in District 1. For the price point, you’re getting solid value here, especially if you book directly with them rather than through those big booking sites.
