Landmark 81 and Vinhomes Riverside Residence
When I first pulled up to Landmark 81 and Vinhomes Riverside Residence, I’ll be honest – I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the name alone. But once you’re actually there, it all makes sense. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s financial district, and you know what? The views from the upper floors are absolutely spectacular, especially if you can snag a room facing the Saigon River.
The whole setup is actually pretty clever – it’s part of this massive Vinhomes development, so you get that residential feel but with proper hotel services. I mean, the lobby alone feels like you’re stepping into someone’s very expensive apartment building rather than a typical hotel. The staff genuinely seemed to know their stuff, and check-in was surprisingly smooth even during what I’d guess was peak season. What really struck me was how quiet the rooms were, considering you’re smack dab in Ho Chi Minh City. The soundproofing is legit – I barely heard the motorbike chaos that defines the streets below.
Here’s the thing though – and locals will tell you this too – the location puts you within walking distance of some seriously good street food along Nguyen Huu Canh Street, but you’re also close enough to the fancy rooftop bars in District 1 if that’s more your scene. The building itself is part of that whole Landmark 81 tower complex (you can’t miss it, it’s the tallest building around), so there’s actually decent shopping and dining right downstairs if you don’t feel like venturing out. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free, which honestly shocked me given how cramped this part of the city usually gets. The rooms themselves have this modern, almost minimalist vibe – clean lines, decent-sized bathrooms, and those floor-to-ceiling windows that make the space feel way bigger than it probably is. I actually spent way too much time just watching the river traffic from my window. The Wi-Fi was solid, the air conditioning worked like a dream (crucial in that humidity), and the beds were comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the pillows all night. Sure, it’s not the most characterful place you’ll ever stay – it definitely skews more business hotel than boutique charm – but sometimes you just want things to work properly, you know?
