The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have excellent taste – full kitchen that you’ll actually want to use, a living room where you can spread out your stuff, and that balcony view… I mean, depending on which floor you get, you might catch glimpses of the Saigon River, which is pretty magical at sunset. The building’s got solid security (you need a key card for everything), and there’s a decent gym and pool if you’re into that sort of thing.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: the area gets wonderfully quiet at night, but it can be a bit tricky to find good late-night street food within walking distance – you’ll want to stock up or venture a bit further out. Also, the apartment comes with a washing machine, which sounds boring but trust me, after a few days of Vietnam’s humidity, you’ll be grateful. The staff managing the place are actually responsive, which isn’t always a given with apartment-style accommodations. They helped me figure out the best routes to avoid traffic (take Nguyen Tat Thanh when heading to District 1), and they were quick to fix a minor AC issue.
