HANZ Premium Friday Saigon Hotel
You know what caught me off guard about HANZ Premium Friday Saigon Hotel? The name makes it sound like some corporate chain, but honestly, this place has way more personality than I expected. I stumbled across it during my third trip to Saigon – well, Ho Chi Minh City officially, but everyone still calls it Saigon – and it’s become my go-to spot whenever I’m in town for work.
The thing about this four-star hotel is that it actually feels premium without being stuffy about it. The lobby has this modern Vietnamese aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. Clean lines, but with these gorgeous traditional lacquer panels that catch the light just right in the afternoons. What I really appreciate is how the staff genuinely seems to care – not in that over-rehearsed way you get at some places, but like they actually want you to have a good time in their city. The front desk manager, Mr. Duc, remembered my coffee preference from my second visit, which… I mean, that’s the kind of detail that matters when you’re jet-lagged and trying to function.
The rooms are solid – nothing revolutionary, but everything works the way it should. Good water pressure (crucial in this climate), blackout curtains that actually block out the morning sun, and thankfully, air conditioning that can handle Saigon’s humidity without sounding like a freight train. I always ask for a higher floor because the street noise can be intense, especially during rush hour when the motorbike symphony really gets going. The Wi-Fi is reliable too, which saved my butt during a few late-night client calls back to the States. Location-wise, you’re close enough to District 1’s action without being right in the tourist chaos – it’s maybe a ten-minute walk to Ben Thanh Market, but far enough that you can actually sleep at night. There’s a fantastic pho place literally around the corner that opens at 6 AM, and honestly, starting your day there instead of the hotel breakfast sometimes hits different. The hotel’s breakfast is decent though – good mix of Western and Vietnamese options, and their Vietnamese coffee game is on point. I’d definitely stay here again, especially considering how crazy expensive some of the international chains have gotten lately.
Ho Chi Minh City’s apartments offer urban accommodations with city views, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally diverse Vietnamese metropolis.
