HANTING HOTEL HO CHI MINH City – 胡志明汉庭国际中心酒店
So I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to HANTING HOTEL HO CHI MINH City, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The name’s a bit of a mouthful, and you know how it is with international hotel chains sometimes. But this four-star spot on Võ Văn Kiệt actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The location is what really sold me on this place. You’re right there in District 1, which means you can literally walk to Ben Thanh Market in about ten minutes (though honestly, the motorbike symphony starts pretty early in the morning – bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper). What I loved was how close everything felt without being right in the absolute chaos of the backpacker area. The staff at reception spoke excellent English, which was a relief after a long flight, and check-in was surprisingly smooth for a busy Friday evening in Ho Chi Minh City.
The rooms themselves are clean and modern – I mean, not groundbreaking, but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in Southeast Asia. The air conditioning actually keeps up with the humidity, the shower has decent pressure, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. I particularly appreciated the blackout curtains because the street lights on Võ Văn Kiệt can be pretty bright at night. The breakfast buffet was a nice mix of Vietnamese and international options, though it gets pretty crowded between 7:30 and 8:30 AM when all the business travelers are rushing out. Pro tip: if you’re not in a hurry, wait until after 9 AM for a more relaxed experience.
What really impressed me was the little things – the lobby stays cool even when it’s sweltering outside, there’s always someone at the front desk who can help with directions or booking a Grab, and they actually have a decent business center if you need to print boarding passes or deal with work stuff. The Wi-Fi works well throughout the building, which honestly can be hit or miss in this part of town. You’re also within walking distance of the Saigon River, and if you head out in the early evening, you can catch some great street food along the way – the bánh mì vendors near the corner of Võ Văn Kiệt and Nguyễn Trãi are absolutely worth the detour.
Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or become the story you tell at dinner parties, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. It’s the kind of place where everything just works, you sleep well, and you wake up ready to explore the city instead of recovering from your accommodation. For the price point and location, I’d definitely stay here again.
