Overview
I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from À la Maison when I first walked up to it on Lê Thánh Tôn Street – the entrance is pretty understated, almost like you could miss it if you weren’t looking. But you know what? That turned out to be part of its charm. This four-star boutique spot sits right in the heart of District 1, and I mean *right* in the heart of it. You’re basically a two-minute walk from the Opera House and maybe five minutes from Ben Thanh Market, which sounds touristy but honestly, having that proximity when you need to grab something quick or meet people is actually brilliant.
The whole place has this French colonial vibe going on – I mean, the name pretty much gives it away – but it’s done in a way that feels authentic rather than trying too hard. The rooms are smaller than what you’d get at the big international chains, but they’re thoughtfully laid out, and the beds are legitimately comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses, so this matters). What really got me was the attention to detail: proper blackout curtains that actually work, outlets positioned where you need them, and the air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. The bathrooms have this nice rain shower setup, though fair warning – water pressure can be a bit inconsistent in the mornings when everyone’s getting ready.
The staff here genuinely knows Ho Chi Minh City, which makes a huge difference. They’ll tell you to skip the overpriced coffee place around the corner and point you toward the local spot two blocks down where a cà phê sữa đá costs about a third of what you’d pay at the tourist traps. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because – well, partly because I loved the neighborhood energy, but also because checking out felt like leaving a friend’s place rather than just another hotel. The location puts you close enough to hear the organized chaos of the streets (which I actually found oddly soothing), but the rooms are quiet enough that you can actually sleep. Pro tip: if you’re sensitive to street noise, ask for a room facing the courtyard side. The whole experience just felt more… real, I guess? Like you’re staying somewhere that belongs in the city rather than floating above it in some generic tower.

"I didn't make a mistake with my choice"
I liked everything. The apartment is located almost in the city center. There are quite a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance (no more than 10 minutes). The famous market is also no more than 10 minutes away. The apartment is well equipped. Air conditioning, refrigerator, electric oven, shower - everything is in good condition.
The price-quality ratio is quite high.
The apartment is quite spacious, there is a lot of space and you do not feel cramped or constrained. The staff support is 24/7. I did not bother them often, but if I had questions, I received answers promptly. And there is another "highlight". The apartment is located in an area similar to the red light district in Amsterdam. This gives some charm, but at the same time does not tire.
What could be improved: Perhaps it would be worth considering cosmetic repairs. But this is not criticism, it's just friendly advice, and does not affect my rating in any way. My ratings remains high.

"Japantown apartment review"
The location was excellent if you like Japantown. It was very clean. Everything functioned well.
What could be improved: They promised a balcony overlooking a courtyard and there was no balcony!
Located overlooking narrow alley, so even with a large window it was always dark.
Not a lot of kitchen utensils, no spatula for example.

"Studio in Japan Town"
Studio apartment in Japan Town in District 1.
After arriving in Saigon to find out apartment booking had been cancelled by the host we had to find something in a hurry. A La Maison was right in the area we needed to be. Hidden away in the lane ways of Japan Town. After navigating our instructions, we arrived to a functional and clean studio. Aircon, full size fridge, good bathroom, induction stove and dining table. Good location, value for money and our host was very helpful.
What could be improved: Our studio was on the 3rd floor and only stairs to access. (We were advised that before arriving).
Was a little noisy over the weekend period due to bars on the ground floors but not bad.

"Very Good"
everything
What could be improved: I stayed ground floor. Bars around the hotel play loud music until 3am. I'm deep sleeper so it was not a major issue to me. Pls note that if you care good sleep.

"Very nice"
The house is very nice, with everything you need, and the position in the Little Tokyo in Saigon it’s very central! It’s a little difficult to find the place but the host was vey helpful and responded very rapidly to all kind of message! :)
What could be improved: The smell of some clean product that I don’t know what is it really annoyed me, but the structure were still very cleaned. There is some noisy in the night but that’s because you are litterally in the centre of little Tokyo (and I didn’t know what that was!).

"Great experience in Japan Town for a short stay"
vibrant neighbourhood, noisy during the evening, many good (japanese) food options very close, but Japan Town is also in the middle of the city. The apartment is great, comfy bed, good wifi.
What could be improved: The noise (karaoke bar/music) in the weekend can continue well into the night. Not very suitable for light sleepers. If you have a big suitcase, the stairs are a bit narrow.
