22Land Hotel Saigon
22Land Hotel Saigon sits right in the thick of District 1’s action on Lê Thánh Tôn Street, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name – it sounds a bit quirky, doesn’t it? But this four-star place really surprised me in the best way. The lobby hits you with this clean, modern vibe that feels more like a boutique property than your typical business hotel, and the staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which is honestly refreshing in Ho Chi Minh City where service can be pretty hit-or-miss.
What I really love about this spot is how it manages to feel tucked away despite being smack in the middle of everything. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the old Continental Hotel and all that French colonial architecture around Dong Khoi Street, but when you step into 22Land’s elevator, the city noise just melts away. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for this part of town – I mean, you’re not getting penthouse-sized spaces, but there’s actually room to open your suitcase without doing yoga moves around the bed. The bathrooms are what sold me though – proper rainfall showers and they’ve got that perfect water pressure that’s somehow rare in boutique hotels. I stayed on the seventh floor and could see bits of the Saigon River between the buildings, which was a nice bonus I wasn’t expecting.
The breakfast situation is solid without being fancy – they do a decent pho that’s actually better than some street stalls I’ve tried, and they’ve got Western options that don’t taste like afterthoughts. You know what really impressed me? The location means you can walk to Ben Thanh Market in about eight minutes, but you can also easily grab a taxi to the hipper spots in District 3 or Binh Thanh without dealing with the crazy traffic around the main tourist drag. The neighborhood gets lively at night – there’s this excellent bánh mì spot literally next door that stays open late, and you’re close enough to the rooftop bar scene without being kept awake by it. At this price point and with that 8.4 rating, it’s honestly one of those places that just works without trying too hard to be something it’s not.
